Retirement Challenge Brought Forward

The landmark challenge to the UK’s continuing insistence on having a compulsory retirement age of 65 will now be heard on 2 July 2008.  This is months earlier than the 2009 date originally planned.  The challenge brought by the charity, Heyday, is arguing that the UK’s age discrimination legislation does not comply with the European directive on this subject.  We will bring you the result of the judgement as soon as it is to hand on the website.
