Britain’s Opt Out Under Working Time Regulations Again Under Threat
Once again, Britain’s opt out from the maximum 48 hour working week is under threat.  A vote will take place in the European Parliament on 17 December 2008 which could lead to its abolition.

British workers can currently elect to work up to 78 hours in busy periods rather than the maximum 48 averaged over a 17 week period.  The British government still believes that flexibility in labour markets is essential, particularly as we head into recession.
