 The Government has launched a consultation on implementing the EC Temporary Agency Workers Directive.  The directive requires that member states introduce laws giving temporary workers equal treatment with permanent employees in matters such as pay, working hours and holidays.  The Government has, however, announced its intention that it will make use of the permitted twelve week derogation, meaning that an agency worker will have required to have been in the same job for twelve weeks before the directive applies to them.
