Employers face fines for breaking EU worker restrictions.

Employers who breach the rules regarding the employment of workers from Romania and Bulgaria face fines for recruiting staff from these countries.

Since the beginning of the year, Romania and Bulgaria have been members of the EU, however, unlike other EU members, only a limited number of potential employees from these two countries will be eligible to work in the UK without a valid work permit. 

Companies that are found to be in breach of these rules face fines of up to £5,000.
