Under the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003, it is unlawful to dismiss somebody for their religious or philosophical beliefs.
In a recent case, the Employment Appeal Tribunal suggested that a fundamental belief in man made climate change and its impact on the planet is capable of being a philosophical belief under the Regulations.
Accordingly, the employee was entitled to bring an argument before an employment tribunal in his claim for unfair selection for redundancy. |
