Lord Mandelson has announce that there will be an extra day's public holiday in 2012 to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee is 2012. The holiday will take place in the first week of June.
Under UK law employees are not as a rule entitled to paid public holidays unless provided for in their contracts of employment. Businesses will be expected to close and to pay their employees for the extra day's holiday. |
