Blog Writer Wins Tribunal Case
A British woman sacked in France for writing a personal blog has won an unfair dismissal case in France. The company argued that she had brought them into disrepute through her on line diary but an employment tribunal in Paris found that the dismissal was unfair and awarded the employee 44,000 euros (£29,900).
There is another serious side to this story. Blogs or online diaries are increasingly prevalent. Any client wishing to stop employees indulging in this type of activity needs to ensure that their internet policies are up to date and have clearly defined rules on what employees can and cannot post on the internet where the company’s business is concerned. |
