Statistics from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) showed that 600 claims have been registered since the introduction of age discrimination legislation in October 2006.

If the levels of compensation for age discrimination claims are similar to that for disability discrimination (£20,000) then U.K. employers face a compensation bill of around 12 million pounds.
